Facebook for Business

One of the frustrations I have had with using Facebook from a business perspective is that, up to now, there were limited ways to give your business the same exposure you get personally. Sure they had “fan” pages, but the updates weren’t coming through the regular newsfeed. Well guess what? This has now changed and it’s worth noting because Facebook’s newest edition means businesses can now be more visible than ever to Facebook’s 175 million member base…that’s right 175 million!

Join me in creating your own business page and please share ways you’ve found to leverage it. I am going to test out gathering “fans” to the page, creating a special weblink to the page, as well as coordinating it with a Facebook advertising campaign. You can bet I will be reporting back my results as well as the ones you share with me. Stay tuned!

To Create Your Business Page:

http://www.facebook.com/pages/create.php
• Choose the second option – Brand, Product or Organization
• From the drop down menu, choose the industry that most closely resembles your business
• Under Name of Products – Type your company name exactly
• Finish the authorization and signature and choose – Create Page
• Once you are on your page, you will need to modify it, in order to Publish it
• A simple way to do this is to add yourself as a fan and then the Publish option will come up at the top of the page
